Our Favorite Lunch Spots

Posted by

At Superhuman, we love lunch. We’ve searched for the best pho, ramen, and falafel in this city, and we’ve been having fun finding our new go-to lunch spots since we moved into our new office. Eating together is a break from work, a chance to re-energize for the rest of the day, and have good conversation. We know it’s important to take time out of our day to clear our heads and connect on a personal level, and even as we’re growing we still find time to sit down all together to eat. As Stacy says “always good eats, always good jokes.”

Where’s your favorite place for lunch?

“Probably Ichiddo because the ramen is DOPE. And we usually all go together which is fun.”

“iPho, because I like sharing my heritage with everyone, and it accommodates a large group.”

“iPho. They have the best food, they are super fast and they have great round tables for our large group. The only down side is the drive, but it’s worth it.”

“Anywhere with pho. First, it’s simply a superior form of food. And there’s a special form of bonding that happens when everyone is navigating the complicated mechanics of wily vegetables, a chaos of noodles, and a pot of near-boiling water. It’s a great equalizer, and you can learn a lot about the choices people make: Are they adventurous enough for tripe at midday? Do they soldier through the broth by the spoonful, or boldly take bowl in hands and publicly slurp? How many jalapeños is still ‘fun?'”

“Famous Dave’s. We’ve started a great new tradition of gorging on meat n’ barbecue sauce, and washing it down with cornbread. I also love going to Amazing Thailand to get green curry and a fresh young coconut.”

“That’s easy! Red Cow. It’s the perfect lunch menu. Plus there’s always room for a crowd and their truffle fries can’t be beat!”

“I love a good toasted gourmet sandy like the ones found at the cheese shop at Lake Wine & Spirits.”

“Quang’s. I tried pho for the first time with my Superhuman team there and fell in love with it. It just feels like ‘our place’ to me now.”

“Going to Sushi Tango is fun because they always have room for our group, and I like sharing all the different sushi rolls.”

“Lunds, Kowalski’s, etc. I love soup and being able to pick and choose sides and stuff. It’s quick, delicious, and healthy. And we can eat back at the space! Which hasn’t lost its charm yet.”

1. Shake Shack
“The first time I ate one of their burgers, I didn’t want to stop chewing each bite because that meant I was one bite closer to being done. It’s the juiciest and most tender burger I’ve ever experienced.”
2. Smashburger
“This is a national chain but don’t let that stop you from smashing one of their burgers. Again, I prefer burgers that are tender and juicy. Don’t sleep on the excellent quality and taste.”
3. Five Guys
“Nothing fancy here. Just a quality burger. “
4. Burger King
“Flame broiled Whopper. I was a vegetarian for 2 weeks. Walked past a BK and smelled the flame broiling. Game over. Vegetarian no more.”

1. Matt’s Jucy Lucy
“It’s the best jucy lucy. Less is more. They don’t add extras — it’s just burger with a cheese core pickles onions ketchup and mustard.”
2. 112 Eatery
“My favorite non-traditional burger. The way the brie melts into the patty is amazing, and I like how it’s on an english muffin.”
3. Five Guys and Shake Shack
“My two favorite fast food burgers. Nothing fancy but they nail it every time.”

For what it’s worth, here is Heather’s award-winning poem about burgers for Serious Eats. The response? “The judges say: Girl, we got to eat, too!”

Cannot live without
Every time I say love
Ultimate union of beef (juicy) cheese (gooey) bun (squishy)
Red, round, ridiculously right
Girl, I got to
(Raises cheeseburger to mouth)

She’s a poet and she KNOWS it.
